Myrthe Vinck, b. 1991, Belgium.
Myrthe Vinck’s work explores the intersections of memory, identity, and the interplay between words and images. Focusing on photography, video, and text while open to other media and techniques, she reflects on how personal and collective experiences are intertwined and leave traces—whether in landscapes, relationships, or stories. Her projects often begin as questions, inviting a deeper exploration of how we shape and are shaped by the world around us.
Her creative process is defined by curiosity and experimentation, embracing the unexpected to uncover connections and meaning. She explores the tension between movement and stillness, presence and absence, capturing moments that embody these contrasts. At its core, her practice reflects a personal search for connection and meaning, examining the interplay between perception and emotion.
Sharing knowledge and creativity is central to her practice. She teaches analog photography to adults and leads creative workshops for children and teenagers, fostering environments where self-expression and exploration thrive. Her involvement in participatory art projects underscores her belief in the strength of collective creation—a perspective enriched during an internship in Northeast Brazil, where she collaborated with children and youth at a cultural arts center.
Myrthe’s academic path mirrors her wide-ranging curiosity and commitment to understanding the world through different lenses. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Arts and a Master’s in Visual Arts from LUCA School of Arts in Brussels. Her studies in Cultural Studies at KU Leuven and an Advanced Bachelor in Global Citizenship and Development at University Campus Leuven – Limburg deepened her perspective on the intersection of art, culture, and societal dynamics. Her teaching qualification in audiovisual and visual arts from KASK in Ghent further underscores her dedication to education as a creative and transformative practice.
Through her work, Myrthe seeks to create connections—between the personal and the collective, the visual and the narrative—inviting reflection, dialogue, and contemplation, while also inspiring a sense of wonder.
